Before you think you can’t write or don’t want to write, thinking this tactic is not for you – know that you can make money from self published books:
– Without investing any money
– Without being a great writer
– Without actually writing or illustrating any books yourself
– By getting your first book written, illustrated, published and launched within a couple of weeks!
Only thing you need to do is to follow my, and my resources’ instructions (I will post a link at the end of this post), and work hard. Anybody can do this if you have the will do succeed. So how does this work?
These days anyone can self publish books online. You can self publish your books on Amazon, where it can be sold on Amazon Kindle, Amazon Audio books, and even Amazon Printed books. Amazon does the marketing for you, as there are millions of people searching for all types of books every day. ie. You publish a children’s book on “Sharks” on Amazon. People go on amazon and type in “Sharks Children books”. They scroll through the search results, see your book, and buy it. Amazon takes a commission, and the rest of the money gets transferred to your bank account. Passive income!
You just need to do some initial marketing to get the books ranked well for your categories and Search terms that people type in, and then you can make passive income from that book. The more books you do, the more money you can make. Its an easy scalable way to build a business. The great thing is that you can outsource everything related to this business model, writing, illustrating, and even marketing, so you dont need to do any work yourself, if you dont want to. I do suggest that you start off by doing everything youself, to learn how it works. And then you can start scaling by outsourcing things.
Step 1: Find a “niche” demand on amazon kindle. Choose types of books that are easy to and quick to write. If you have a good imagination and like to write, try writing a fiction story book. It can be simple. Get ideas from other childrens books. Or if you have no imagination you can do Childrens non-fiction books. ie. “Fun Shark Facts for for 5-8 Year Olds.” In this case, its a short children’s book on sharks. You can research these facts very easily and write it in a simple to understand, and fun format that kids will love. you can either illustrate it yourself, outsource the illustrating, or just get free photos for your book by getting images from Stock photography sites, like “Pixabay.com”
Step2: Make sure you have a great Cover page. Design it yourself, or simply outsource this on Fiverr for cheap. This makes or brakes the success of a book.
Step3: Publish it on Amazon. There are lots of resources online to help you with this. I also have a guide below that you can follow.
Step4: Now its very important that you do a big blast or promoting for it and get some sales and reviews for it quickly. The more sales and reviews you get, the better your book will rank for related search terms on amazon, which is what you want. To do this, you can discount your book to almost free, and post it on many other free and discounted book sites, fb groups, and to all your friends. let them download the book and write reviews. You can even let people pay $1 for it, and refund them via paypal their $1. As long as you get the reviews. You can also create your own blog, and fb page, or youtube videos, to market your book.
This step of launching the book is very important as you need that initial sales volume to get the book ranked well and the reviews. There are many resources online on how to do this. ie. google or even search on udemy.com for short courses on self publising books on kindle or amazon.
Step 5: Once you have done this initial work, and your book starts making some organic sales, you can slowly raise the price of it to start making profits. Then your book can make passive profits for years to come. I have done this about 10 years ago, and still make a few sales this way from books taht I even forgot about.
Step 6: Rinse and repeat. Now start scaling up. Start with yoru next book. If you make just $10 per week from 1 book, its not a lot. But you can pump out a new book every few weeks.l So you can have 20 books within your first year and make $200 per week. And some books will have more success than others. You can get 1 best selling book making you a ton of passive money.
Step 6: Ways to grow the biz and scale up further includes, outsourcing the topic research, writing, illustrating and even marketing of the book. You can find many people for this on upwork.com or fiverr.com.
Go and search on amazon and see how much money people are makign with simple books that they basically wrote in less than a day. You can do the same.
